The NOAA Commissioned Officer uniformed service of the United States consists of approximately 299 commissioned officers and is an integral part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Mission
One of the top missions of the Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) is to consistently provide the NOAA Corps officers the highest level of mariner training available to best prepare them for their future careers at sea.
Commitment
Through GMATS education, waterfront resources, and cadre of seasoned seamanship and navigation instructors, GMATS will continue to provide a dynamic and quality underway and ashore program to assist the NOAA Corps in the preparation and continued training of its officers.
Goal
GMATS is a premier learning organization whose goal is to educate and train those who serve, providing the tools and opportunities which ensure fleet and ashore readiness and mission accomplishment, enhance professional growth and development, and to sustain a life-long learning environment.
