USMMA GMATS Military Training

GMATS CoursesEmphasizes practical "hands-on" training utilizing more than three dozen engineering and nautical science laboratories and simulators, as well as waterfront vessels and equipment. Strategic transportation and logistics courses include field visits to intermodal facilities in the Port of New York/New Jersey.

Instruction is provided by outstanding faculty, many of whom are military reservists themselves. Experts from the transportation industry, as well as military (both active and reserve), also participate in course instruction.

GMATS can customize military training to meet the specific needs of a unit.

Navy Reserve Weekend and Annual Training Opportunities

USMMA is an official NETC School (Non-Traditional Training Site).  Many GMATS courses are listed on the Navy's "CANTRAC" system.

As America's largest single source of Navy Reserve officers for over half a century, the United States Merchant Marine Academy is well suited to the task of Navy Reserve Training. Working Closely with COMNAVSURFRESFOR and various Navy Reserve units, the USMMA Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) has developed numerous specialized training programs ideally suited to improving readiness skills of Navy Reserve personnel and the units they serve.

USMMA GMATS Navy Reserve Training

GMATS can customize weekend drill training to meet the specific needs of a unit. Weekend training is funded through CAT funds provided by the various REDCOMS.

GMATS CoursesAlthough not as advantageous as training at USMMA utilizing the numerous laboratories and simulators, GMATS can provide on-site training at the readiness center for a given unit.

GMATS provides numerous two-week courses for rate training and professional development of SELRES Navy Reserve personnel (officers and enlisted).

For two-week AT training programs, reservist per diem is sufficient to cover lodging and related costs. This fee is charged to students upon arrival for a two-week AT and is fully reimbursed along with meal per diem after the submittal of their travel claim.   Reserve students are required to berth on-campus during AT programs.

GMATS Navy Reserve courses are designed to improve readiness skills of units and personnel and to improve contributory support potential of the Navy Reserve in times of national emergency.

GMATS can develop and offer a custom two-week training program for SELRES personnel at the request of a REDCOM, Readiness Center, or unit.

Available Two-Week USN Training
